Pai Tian Kong '13

Pai Tian Kong or appeasing the King of Jade which falls on the 9th day during CNY is my favourite day! Reasons are because there are lots of food: "sau"pau aka the birthday-must-eat pau, "angku ge", red-coloured hard boiled egg, mi sua, sweet chinese candy with longans, fried fish, roasted pork, sea cucumber, prawns, crabs, chicken, fruits. People gathering around waiting for a bite of roasted pork, impressing each other household with the amount gold papers they have folded and some would light up some fireworks to brighten the skies and liven up the mood.

For my house this year, Mum has put lots of effort especially preparing new menus despite her health condition. "Sau" pau and mochi cake are new in the house. I just couldn't stop eating. It was delicious!

Table full of scrumptious offering!

The two newbies: Mr Mochi on the left, and Mrs. Sau Pau

Set fire to the rain!

Meanwhile, at my aunt house, they have

The whole roasted pig!

Big pineapple made of gold papers.

Beautiful and mouth-watering agar-agar inserted with grape peels.

Oooopss.. gotcha, Aunt Peggy making up, looking like the villain in  the movie 101 Dalmation =P

The buffet in Aunt house!
