From iPad to Angry Bird to Facebook, dominating the mindset of the young as the only alternative from boredom. Monopoly, Happy Family, Uno seem to have no place in their heart. Board and card games are labeled unfairly as bored and slow unlike Angry Bird which excites the user with nonsensical yet adorable squeaking bird sound.
Nevertheless, traditional-minded me still think board game beats nowadays graphical games. Board games which allow more participants, be it the whole family of eight members or the small number of only two, at least live human players are involved rather than the you-and-the-computer-generated-player and when communication within players are vital, one cannot deny that human bonding can be harnessed closer.
I still remembered those schooling days when exams had ended and everyday to school is just meaningless so as to end up playing games. Happy Family, is the pick during primary school. A very simple game of collecting the four members of a doctor, nurse, butcher family and so on by asking any players who deem to have the higher possibilities of owning the particular card.
Board game has always been more mind stimulating, exciting and warm as it brings laughter and also sorrow and most importantly, it is shared by numerous people simultaneously. It always requires you to act yourself rather than having a visual reacting to your clicks.
Really wish those days are eternal. Now is just memory. Anyone for an Uno?
