Vocabulary and Pronunciation Part 2

In Europe, plethora of quint edifice is still very well-preserved.

I always tell Mum to keep calm. Little did she know that she is actually the one who always remind us to remain unflappable or else we'll never succeed.

A month ago, many MPs were impeached by The Star reporters on 20 common question revolved about our local news.

In this fasting season, the most common issue highlighted in the daily tabloid would be about the surfeit amount of unconsumed food. Most of the folks would purchase lots of food but end up, unable to finish it.

The latest Minions wave had triggered a group of young Good Samaritans, collecting unwanted Happy Meals. The colossal amount of Happy Meals is then donated to the poor.

A young lad was battered abruptly by a group of guys who then wrote accusation on the lad's body - Saya hina Islam. Such act was described as childish and iniquitous to cause stir in the country.

Mr Chow Kwok Ming, the Chairman of Sungai Klau village, treated us a grandiose dinner that night - stew fish with vegetables soup, crunchy golden pork limbs, stuffed taufu with meat, roasted duck with gleaming crispy skin.

My gaiety worn off few months ago because I was too weary juggling between college's project and academic.

Potluck with Great Friends!

What a unique gathering of for us four today! Thanks to Jonathan's enthusiasm on potluck, both him and I have always been talking about it during FB chat. Today, we finally held it. Both the gentlemen were early. We chatted for almost three hours while waiting for the just-came-back-from-Krabi Serene. There she came finally at about 3.15pm. We were all ravenous already.

I made Garden Salad with Hotdog. Mouth watering and appetizing both the look and taste! *Self-compliment*

Jon made a great mash potato! It was complemented with cheese and parsley. Yummilicious!

Hoo Keen surprised me with his self-cooked Rendang Chicken. Mum said it was not fragrant enough and Hoo Keen's mum did commented that it was rather disappointing. But for me, I am not that picky and fussy with food as long as it is edible.

We chatted real lot....like the good old time...we spent our time together till almost 7pm....long time weh. And before everyone said goodbye, we had about 70 photoshoot together! That's a lot! Well, here are some good ones (:

Good night Wednesday (:

Visit To Landfill

All thanks to Jaron's offer, I got a free ride to a landfill. The landfill's capacity is only for one area itself, and yet the amount of waste is too heavy-laden with waste from just a single location. This landfill has short lifespan in which the manager said it could only sustain for about next 10 months. Imagine that. After 10 months, another land would have to be excavated to bury our daily rubbish.

Bulky waste - sofa, cabinet, etc - what would be the better solution to dispose it aside from landfilling?

The deep excavated land

The greyish sheet on top of the land is wastewater residue from paper mill factories.

This is the water monitoring well which is layered with 10mm thick geotextile membrane which prevents leachate from seeping into the soil.
We also grabbed the opportunity to visit Malaysia's only Refuse-Derived Fuel Plant which was located a stone's throw away.

The rubbish is being shredded prior to sorting - which is the largest mistake in this RDF Plant.

Rubbish being compressed and stacked

This is the ash residue after  incineration.

Next, I had an opportunity to visit Setia City Mall too, a newly established shopping mall which is eco-friendly in many way. First, some of the building's wall is made of glass instead of the typical concrete because it allows natural sunlight to pour and thus reducing usage of electrical lighting and energy consumption. This same goes to the carpark in which it is not fully enclosed or built underground to enable sunlight to brighten the parking lot. Next, it also established rainwater harvest system. In addition, the eye-soothing recycle bin is also ubiquitous in the shopping mall. Though I am skeptic on the correct usage from the public, but at least Setia City Mall does a good job to create awareness compared to sky-scrapping shopping mall - KLCC, Times Square, Pavilion etc. What's the point of being the most strategic mall but it is not doing Mother Nature any good? The next good thing about Setia is that it engages the tenants in whole. They make all tenants segregate plastic and paper for recycling purpose. As for waste other than paper and plastic, it is dumped into a compactor. It uses hauled-container system in which once the compactor is full of rubbish, the whole compactor will be hauled for disposal and return after that with an empty compactor.

Below are some pictures on how TopWaste - a recyclable collection company - collects cardboard.

Here comes the truck

From the store, all the cardboard has been nicely arranged into bundles. Each with 40 kg.

The workers would have to weigh it first.

Then, unload it into the truck - nicely arranged.

The final stack up effort

Not forgetting the plastic too

Great visit of the day =)

I Found It

Out of sudden and out of no where, as I were typing an email to EcoKnights to be Anugerah Hijau volunteer, a notion or more to like a rhetorical question pop up in my mind.

"What's wrong for being an environmentalist? What's wrong? What are you ashamed of your own dream? Your own belief? What sin would you commit for having an eye on Mother Nature? Do other people's opinion matter to you?"

Of all sudden, all these questions came knocking on my door. Yea, its true that what they have in mind is their business and I have no power to control. Why not just be myself and be who I am? Be myself. I am unique in my way. I believe everyone has their specialty and professionalism. I just have to be my own's. Be my own's. Be my own's. And create my own own own own identity.

"Small dream; no harm believing it."
