Citrawarna Za’ba
too took me for a world class roller coaster. My first event as a Director, I must
say I am proud of myself, my effort, my hardwork, my achievement, my own
innovation.
I remembered
how things got so hectic in a day. On first day, I practiced my speech
diligently and I was glad to present it well and eloquently until Mr Nash praised
on my ebullient speech too! I was also thankful to see the amount of people who
actually came and supported me (Wei Feng, Choppy, Ikyn).
The second day
was also a challenging one. Garnering help from Dickson and Wei Feng to be a
day labour made me felt guilty and thankful at the same time. This incident
made me saw how much Wei Feng valued our friendship and how kind-hearted and
understanding Dickson was. Four of us including the driver, squeezed ourselves
at the front sit of the lorry. Amazing memory thought the ride was only for
half an hour to Bukit Jalil. Thanks to Dickson too, for being chatty with the
driver on the local hot topic –GE 13 while Wei Feng with his usual
im-cool-no-need-to-talk-to-me face.
Arriving there
with Mr Nara easily spotted sitting on the marble structure, we then began the
carrying Goal Ball equipment. Mr Nara hobbled with clutches and numerous beads
of sweat, was very friendly and ebullient to see my event involving the
disabled. I too felt glad and privileged for being able to use my power to held
meaning event.
CZ also was
a miracle for me when the manpower I garnered in FB, (thanks to the network I have
from CC) made the job of setting up the goalball court fast and efficient. I remembered
faces of Pyton, Wei Feng, Liang Kit, Gilbert, Chin Loong, Adeline, Chin Peng,
Jia Row, Li Ching, Farah, Hikmal and some other came to offer their help
without giving a second thought. Despite two events going on: MKM and MKC
rehearsal, life goes on, and my work goes on.
Obstacle could
not stop flying in when two of the original panelists for Forum DIlemma OKU
unable to turn out. Desperate and being able to foreseen the amount of turnout,
my first thought went to Siew Yin, a Chinese wheel-chaired bound OKU. I was
confident on her ability for she impressed me in CC trip with her interesting
way of conveying speech. She agreed too benevolently for she too believed that
her presence could at least help increasing the turnout in spite of her soring
throat. Without a second thought, I offered her my pei pa kou.
The next
day was just the climax of my turbulent week. Rain fell during goalball event. Thankfully
the downpour was actually a blessing in disguise. The court was turned smoother
which lessen the injuries of player. I was casted some light from my savior,
Mat Top from jumping into a bad move. The OKU insisted on purchasing tikar
getah since the Futsal Court had got a coarse surface. Meanwhile, Mat Top
debated that there was no such need based on his experience of playing. He broke
it down for me on points like purchasing price and possible storage problems. These
two points I had given a deep thought and too, discussed with the rest of the
committee. I naively persuaded myself that the solutions were viable and I needed
to act according to the demand and advice given from more credible person (Mr
Nara and Firdaus). However, Mat Top marked a point to me that I had been a very
schematic person. Really.
Ultimately and thankfully, I did not purchase it, and the downpour smoothen up everything including my worries. As for the night when Forum Dilemma OKU was held, it was very unpleasant to see only the OKUs were here. The rest of it was just some forced attendees who chatted a lot and not listening to the whole forum. I could not blame them at all for the PA system was also at fault and the discussion topic was rather mundane and not being able to suit the Chinese ethnic. Anyhow I had done my real best to manage my biggest event and I had no more qualms on what happened. I had got no control and let the bygone be bygone.
Oh and I forgot
to add – another hindrance emerged when there was complaint on the nuisance
that would be caused from Open Floor event. There was a Malay resident who felt
uneasy with this program as it caused unpleasant view on male resident lingering
in the corridor. I was seriously mentally exhausted to face another problem. I delayed
it and in the end also replied boldly on my justification for this event. I was
proud and thankful to garner much LIKE and shut her mouth. This meaningful
session could not be banned because it was something that was even held in
school’s hostel level needless to say that there would be a problem to do this
in university level.
Here's my reply::
Anyhow, I still
missed the chance to visit the guy’s room for I had fencing competition from morning
right until afternoon. I needed to thank Vivian and Ainur too for willingly
managed the Open Floor on behalf of me though it was their obligation and
responsibility too. But I always reminded myself that they were not paid and being
able to get help from them smoothly without throwing tantrum on me, I was
thankful enough.
During fencing
competition, I was not turned on at all due to fatigue. Fatigue. Fatigue. In the
end, I got the last place. And queer thing and awkward that Kenneth commented
on my ranking. Prior encounter with him did make me felt he was trying to talk
to me. I wondered why. Anyhow, I was
shameless on my ranking and kept nonchalant. My mind was on preparation for
closing ceremony speech and also the fashion show performance. Speech was badly
prepared and not as fired up as the opening one. I remembered seeing Desmond
frowning on me presenting speech. I too got distracted by looking on the people
who spoke while I spoke. I tool felt disappointed when I failed to make a mark
on Jarrold, Desmond and others with my speech. Fashion show was thankfully
being able to be held in a vibrant way. It was indeed a pleasant view to see
integration among different races. The Chinese wearing the traditional costume
of Borneo, the Borneo in Indian saree, the Malay and Indian in Chinese cheongsam.
Throughout
the whole event, I was glad to see SUPER being able to held fun games. Real enjoyable
and light games, I myself did enjoy it and felt delighted to pay and play. I was
proud of Izati and Intan too. Hope I was a good boss to them. Nevertheless, I still
received unpleasant comments on the expo we held. Complaints from the businessman,
checked; complaints from the Malay ethnic, checked; complaints from Master and
Fellow, checked. All these three were expected and when bombarded to me, I was
well-prepared with shield armour. If they could use another perspective to
judge this thing, I hoped it was about them understanding that how tough for
Chinese to gain a yes from different ethnics to set their stalls here. As much as
I loved those stalls, the happiness also caused me to spend extra money to buy
people happiness I felt. I treated quite a number of people, firstly to make
them felt happy and secondly to help the vendor’s business.
The true me.
