Not Too Quiet Afterall

Well, here I am, forth day in UM ever since sem break. Feeling cool because at least CJ and Shirley have been good company aka white mouse for trying out my food!

I realize my lab skills has improved a lot. On average I still need four days for data collection but at least, it is actually a three days. I manage to compact lots of things on these three days though it got me aching and groggy. Well, at least it is a sign that I am still young and tough, able to resist heavy workload just like Mom when she was younger.

Anyway, let's not wait and post some pictures of my own cooking!

First day!

LOL I find it to be the funniest egg custard ever. First attempt though. Tried to put two bowls at the same time, mana tau, it did not fit and caused some spillage, so the eggish rice.

Remark: Tasteless except the mushroom fragrance. Should have added more salt.

Second day!

Would be the most luxurious one. Picture below shows the ingredient. Corn rice was fantastic! Thanks to Yu Xiang's potato, we made mashed potato added with ikan bilis stock! (except that it was too much a carbo diet) And also the lap chiong that I rejected when Mom offered to me. But thanks to it, it made the meal much tastier. LOL.

Third day! The highly anticipating menu! Yee Mee + seaweed + mushroom + egg! Nomnom but still not as nice as Mom's.

Cannot take the staleness, we added some tomyam cubes.

Tomorrow morning gonna for Yu Xiang and do better this time!

Nite!

Second long post in FB!

I am intrigue to express confidentially (oh but now publicly in FB) on my small thoughts on various current issues here. To be frank, I am always devoid of confident in standing up for my own thoughts. Partly is because I don't think I have sufficient knowledge or done adequate research to justify the right and wrong of a matter and also due to my upbringing or my rooted sense of conscience - to accept/obey meekly/without incredulous objection/defends on what ever happened and implied.

Okay stop, I am being long-winded.

The thing is:

The issue on price hike (astro, electricity, toll, sugar, taxi fare - even currency exchange with competitive and kia su Singapore - RM1000 = SG$380?!; compared to RM100 for SG$90 30 years back then)
The fact that TURUN Peaceful Demonstration took place at Dataran Merdeka during NEw YEar Eve was sickening to me. I found no point chanting, shouting, creating din of cacophonous in the midst of final examination and mood of ushering new year. I equate protest with activism act. Which I detest/loathe a lot. Activism is not my thing. It’s not effective way of solving problem. I don’t deny the fact that you create voice to be heard, heed attention, and increase the heat. Yet, the problems still prevail because our politicians, most of them, are deaf, stubborn, and ignorant. So, I would not spend my time doing pointless and less effective effort to solve a problem. I prefer more to a scientist/engineer tackling an issue with facts that once hurled to their face, no chance is given to bounce back.

So back to the hike of price issue, initially, which I would consider myself in speech powerless, I would just accept the fact or convince myself forcefully, that an increase always can still be a blessing disguise.
Look, increase in taxi fare will encourage more use of environmentally friendly means of transport i.e. LRT which I believe cheaper (yet deep in my heart, I would rebut that “taxi is so much convenient that it brings to directly to the destination!”);

rise in sugar price: which hey, you don’t have to waste your saliva to tell mamak bro that magical word - “kurang gula” – to spare yourself from a sinful cup of dinasour milo. In another words, F&B operators might just reduce sugar amount (unscrupulously, also affecting the taste) just to cope with the price rise. And “congratulation, I have just saved you from diabetes,” said the waiter smugly ;
electricity: do you know UM paid RM 2 million to TNB PER MONTH? Hell yea TNB is earning till they can just goyang kaki. And you know why? UM has the worst and brainless instalment of electricity system that is, all electricity operation is centralised. Only one switch to control all the lights in Fac Science lecture halls and it’s either  16 degree C of aircond, or you can just spend the rest of the time reading in library shirtless. Hopefully with the increase of electricity tariff, our world class uni (only in the case of 50 years back then), can curb this matter wisely.

Conclusion is, from an environmental undergraduate point of view, issue can be debated in this way. Yet, I’m still aware that reason for me saying all these because I have yet to feel the pinch of high living cost. I’m single, with no children to bear. I’m still studying which my money is usually spent on food, transportation and some groceries. And the most staggering fact that, I’m keeping myself oblivion that our politicians might have taken too much bribery that they now need to increase whatever price, cutting down whatever deemed unnecessary so that they can suck more from our money for their next Merz, BMW? Ouch.

No offence to any party. Just expressing thoughts. Feel free to condemn or correct my mistakes on facts. Happy exam month people!

p/s: last advice, live in modesty, and you can thrive in this challenging country ruled by many ignorant-ineffective-dishonest politicians.

(not use to long and blunt post, but thanks for reading till the end

2013 YEARENDER

Will try my best to record glorious moments in 2013 (despite spending the eve alone with you Dell lappy)

January

~ Received Korean visitors admist study week!

~ As always, had fun study group with the girls!

~ Exam.
~ Baked Pineapple Tart and Seaweed Crisp.
~ Mom got ill.

February

~ CNY
~ I still remember my weight shot up to 49kg! Nearing 50kg! It was really unacceptable for me that I became very determined in losing weight by replacing oats + milo for lunch, followed by a cardio jog for continuous two weeks. Smack that! Weight plunged down to 47! Hehe...
~ Wrote my BAYER proposal and sent at the very last minute!
~ Registered for fencing! My gateway from activities stress! Met this fella named Kenneth who looks just like Desmond. *clink clink tink tink*- with Jax, Choppy, Ikyn, Mila (feeling blissful)
~ Busy preparing for CZ despite CNY

March

~ Bombarded with a shocking news - Resignation of Xiong Yong from NVG and termination of NVG
~ NVG was saved though from that bad hook
~ Still waiting call from BAYER whether or not I am shorlisted
~ Busy with POPBL?
~ One more month to go before CZ!
~ Struggling to the utmost during mid-sem break. At first I thought taking up the RA job would be my gateway from CZ and NVG, who knows, the job was postponed. I was left sitting down on the plastic chair, red table, lappy in front of me, constantly with face super thick, approaching all NVG members who we previously shoo-ed away to practically come back to this dreaded halfway organization. At the same time, spending hours and hours every day monitoring my CZ co-workers progress. Pleasantly, brother was home. Sang and jived at home, had some pizza with him, 1MSIA book voucher shopping with him.

April

~ At last, managed to organize a trip to Rimba Ilmu! I did it!

~ CZ! My first ever project as the Director. I couldn't had reached this far if not without my team's help.

~ Met Mr Nara. Knowledge got widen again when first approached this goalball - sports for the OKU!

~ Receive a surprise call from BAYER on the a week before CZ saying that I am shortlisted! Apparently, they extended the submission date for proposal. 28 February (submission) was not that late after all.

~ On the night of CZ Opening Ceremony, damn, slapped with a bad news again. The Departure of my dearly grandmother, peacefully at 89 years old. Mourning was on Thursday the following week, which was also my BAYER interview day.

May

~ The momentous outbreak with Kah Wei
~ Struggling hard with NVG ><

Jun

~ Despite study week...
~ Still worrying about the undones
~ Received abrupt call from Mr Ng from Lion's Club
~ Offering to sponsor, at the very last minute

July

~ Done with exam finally! Five papers done done done!
~ Off to Pahang - Temerloh, Kuantan, Mentakab
~ No tears still on the last day of NVG
~ Million thanks to a long list of people for their help, particularly the willingness and support from juniors

~ Only had 14 credit hours = 3 subjects. Woolalala I am so free that I take up Thai Class too!
~ Realized another dream of mine - choir!
~ Great birthday celebration too! Turning 21!

October

~ Busy with FYP - dealing with lots of uncertainties, forking out own money to purchase Jatropha, blundered into so many mistakes, but I learned and grew from it.

November
