Penang Trip Day 1

Adrenaline rushing uncontrollably is all I can feel now while typing swiftly to pour out ever-screaming-feeling!

AAAHHHHHAHAHAHA

Okay basically I’ve got no idea why I woke up at 0304am wth?! And being a normal human being I slept back of course.

Pampering my thunderously noisy stomach, sinfully tasty Gardenia choc bread + horlicks + koko crunch which is with white choc ended up keeping the sound shut.
0715 we headed to Kangar bus terminal. The topic on oyster which can enhance man’s sexuality deemed to be the best cure of boredom among Jia Row and the guys whilst waiting for the bus. Everyone seemed to talk to each other with high concentration of awkwardness but the atmosphere was quick warmed up upon arrival on Butterworth. The ferry ride was surprisingly different from the one towards Langkawi Island besides reminding me of TVB drama Moonlight Resemblance which the ferry was almost identical. Breeze air howling in from four sides if the ferry was the pseudoair-aircondioner ventilating passengers sitting on rows of skeleton looking copper made chairs.

Apparently, two types of people caught the eyes of both Jia Row and I. First, there were two Malay guys who had their hair dyed golden sat in front of us. We misunderstood one of them for not wearing any underwear as we could sight the cleavage of his butt but only to find out that it was actually skin colour-camouflaged by. Second, was about one couple who was standing behind the gate, who was trying to enjoy the romantic panoramic view which in fact suck as it was ruined by dilapidated boats all around the shore and also raucous gigantic ferries that passed by us. Of all sudden, the strong wind gushed in and drew the butt long female’s skirt up 80 degree, with me screaming at the top of my lungs trying to warn the woman but drowned by cacophonous din in the ferry. But someone did heard me, who was the two aunties sitting on the right in front of us, turned behind glancing at me with a smirk. Smirk because of my childish reaction or it was just an intention to share what they had just seen too. Pity that woman. Hopefully only few of us saw (that include Avan Tong).

Upon reaching, we were all fired up to do all sorts of maniac activities, exploring, releasing tension and vacuuming food hunted in this culture rich haven, Georgetown. Georgetown is truly an exquisite place with ubiquitous historical buildings which all are worth maintained and preserved earnestly in order to keep Malaysia’s scents of peace from hustle bustle life for students like us and also the most welcomed Western tourists. Adrian and Pei Yi were the unbeatable best tour guides ever as they both really took good care of us, being patient in bringing us to all over the places and most importantly not asking for any return. Perhaps they can also take the opportunity to be with each other longer (i just knew the chemistry sparks between them).

Out exploration began with a vain trip on our feet to the mee sotong stall. Disappointed, the ravenous us proceeded to a kopitiam which sells scrumptious Loh Mee nestled beside the sacred 100 years Chinese temple. It was served in thick brownish soup of yellow mee, bihun, chicken leg, intestine and chicken liver. Most importantly was the chilli sauce and garlic sauce which were meant to be added with a ratio of 1:3 according to Adrian.

Next was the highly anticipating Kek Lok Si temple. Its remarkable and magnificent architecture design did not let me down especially the lofty Guan Yin statue (if im not wrong) which require us to take the inclination lift specially built in order for the visitors to get some blessing and some even wished sincerely for the unaccomplished.

the piggy is so damn adorable

I bought myself a Penang resembled T-shirt which I think it’s a necessity for remembrance. Initially I thought it was worth buying though it cost RM8 as the wording was sewed instead of printed but apparently it was not because the fabric is real paper thin, almost can be seen through if patch of design was not sewed in the centre. Finish exploring the sturdy uphill temple, we had our stomach satisfied first by the nostalgic delicacy, Muar Chee- sticky hot dough cut into tiny pieces, coated with abundant of fine peanuts and sprinkles of sugar. I, being a very health and weight conscious person in regular had vowed to neglect them awhile and set the priority to indulge my taste buds with numerous mouth watering food famous.

Following that, the sinfully tempting and saliva dribbling assam laksa which I had never truly eaten before was sitting elegantly in the bowl right in front of me. Assam laksa has got its special mee, which is white in colour slightly akin to ‘lou shu fun’ and gives a spongy bouncy feeling a you chewed it. What impressed and captivated my tongue were it was not at all smelled fishy like how it scented in the one sold in Bazaar Ramadhan KMP, reddish-orange in color in lieu of mud brown, genuinely from the long boiled to perfection of fresh fish which the meat later striped off automatically from its bones as it had soften and blended well with shrimp paste to give splendid aroma and appetizing colour. The first try and I am deeply addicted to it. Cant stop drenching my esophagus with the soup!

The plan of going to the beach for the exaggerating and exhilarating activities : parachutes and banana boat ride were expected to ruin as the sky looked gloomy. Too bad we missed the part where we can observe sunset. Nevertheless, we get to set our foot into Komtar and also Prangin Mall. Surprisingly, it gave a little bit of Times Square and Sungei Wang ambience regarding the items sold, youngsters loitering and also songs blasting loudly. Involuntarily, we also bought Jia Row birthday present which is a solar powered soft toys. Strolling from Komtar to Prangin Mall gave us Midvalley feel as we were had to use the bridge which connected both the malls. Or are we being too obsess and over missing the towering building in the concrete jungle that we start to fantasize all that?

Around 1830pm we started heading towards the luxurios Berjaya Hotel that I felt very grateful having to dwell in that comfortable room that slightly similar to Genting Highlands hotel after whole day walking with the our muscles shrieking for mercy, pleading us to halt anaerobic respiration. And so we thanked Adrian and Pei Yi for the company and called it a day.

1008. The room number. Upon depositing my bag, I throw myself to the bed and quickly hopped up lest the other mind. The guys were calling us using the room to room service and started cracking hilarious jokes especially Kwok Ming. For Mandarin, please press 1, English is press 2, etc etc. At 2000, we went to Gurney drive, but dropped by Gurney Plaza which is just a stone throw’s away. I wasn’t expecting that, but I was wearing my newly bought Penang shirt with SAB tracksuit loitering with the rest nonchantly in the shopping complex that can be said on par with Midvalley based on the impression projected in my mind- presence of Dragon-I restaurant. Nevertheless, we can be bothered especially Jia Row, clad with Nike shirt and a short PVC blue pants.

In gurney drive, there were lots of food stalls lining both side of the street, but mostly the same food was sold. Among the food that we purchased were pasembor- looked like rojak except that it has fish balls, Orr-chien- fried oysters with eggs, char kuey teow, ice kacang, su gao, wantan mee, rojak buah, sotong and drinks. All of us were eating happily and blissfully shaded protectively from the drizzling rain under the large umbrella.

Next, we were back to Gurney Plaza for late night movie. Again, unexpected. We watched Grown Ups, hah! Suggested by me. Though it was hilarious with continuous eruption of laughter in the cinema hall, with Jia Row barking laughter maniacally like there’s no tomorrow whereas Wei Ting who sat beside me, basically was neutral with rarely cracking any, I could not really grab the message of the story. Maybe it tried to convey the life of a grown up. Funny though and its truly enjoyable to watch with all of them.

The night is still young. We stayed up till 3am, playing the best yet simple game ever, Truth or Dare that can make our bond closer by unearthing and bombarding each other with questions plus secrets. No doubt that Fion and Avan were the limelight especially after Fion left the room early, Avan was FBI-ed by us. From that, I also realized that Kwok Ming is an intelligent guy who unfortunately slept early that night, yet woke up abruptly to join the mass laugh! If not, I would have grabbed the chance to bombard him with questions.

Conclusion, it was sheer exciting and enjoyable day, with non-stop laughters.
